Photographs more important than the photographer.?. What's that all about then.?.

I've never been dreadfully comfortable with an 'about me' section of my web sites..telling people what I am and what I'm about isn't a strength. I try to let the pictures speak for me.

So.... in introducing the service and the Weddings section of the Chasdog web site I thought it would work better if I tell you what I'm not.

All of us [ of a certain age ] have stood fidgeting outside a church or a reception venue for what feels like several months, especially when the Sun is out and the bar is open! The reason for our parched impatience? The photographer. Hundreds of poses , group after grinning group, of rictus grins that induce face cramp in all but Auntie Wassname whose botox and Max Factor overdose has set her face that shape..

and .... if slowness wasn't enough there's the artistic temperament! That and a milk curdling, child frightening visage that often goes with it leaves you wondering why you bothered..

I was fortunate[?] enough to learn at the shoulder of some of these men, great photographers, superb technicians but with people skills that would make the Ku Klux Klan blush!

Creating a beautiful and lasting record of the day is a collaboration between us

It goes without saying that you want great pictures but you also want to enjoy your day and the company of the special people you have invited to celebrate it with you.

Over the years since I began as a serious Wedding photographer I have made communication, rapport and fun essential elements of the day.

Many of us are not keen [we're really talking grooms here] on the camera.... standing behind one all day is a top way to avoid being subjected to all that posing and smiling unpleasantness going on around the front of the lens.. Sadly this option is not available to a bride or groom.

In the associated pages I hope my pictures speak for themselves but I also hope that the relaxed informal nature of the way I work is also evident.
